Overview

 

Force.com is a platform built by Salesforce that offers a generic approach to cloud based CRM.

It has the same architecture and capabilities as other Salesforce Clouds.  However, it’s purpose is to increase flexibility with relation to  customer specific App development (utilizing Apex, Lightning Web Components and Visualforce).

 

How Is Force.com Used?

 

Database Management

The platform uses the same basic Relational database model as the other offerings from Salesforce (Objects, Tables, Flexible lookup capabilities, easy architecture diagramming, etc).

 

Process Automation

The automation features are identical (Flows, Apex, custom configuration, etc)  to help automate many aspects of business.

 

Customizability

Force.com Org’s can be tailored to fit the needs of any business unit including: insurance, payment processing, logistics, and GRC.

Since Force.com is in the cloud there is little to no downtime in service.  There are frequent (tested) automatic updates and troubleshooting is easy.
